Description:
Zombies and hurricanes and mai tais, mahalo! This Hawaiian word is used to express gratitude, and it's what you'll be saying after too many drinks at the Lower East Side's newest tiki bar, Painkiller. This slim spot used to be the Lower East Side Company, and the new owners have given it a makeover fit for a luau. There's bamboo everywhere (even on the ceiling!) and the walls are festooned with tropical-themed artwork. Note to dudes: Please refrain from flirting with the mural of the topless sunbather after your third cocktail. Expect top notch libations in your coconut-shaped glass, the bar is from the minds behind Long Island City's spirits temple Dutch Kills. They squeeze their own juices for the fruity concoctions and can mix you up pretty much any cocktail ever adorned with a mini umbrella. In classic luau style, they've even got some meat roasting at the party. They may not be buried in a sandy roasting pit, but the bar's free hot dogs sure taste good after some drinks.
