For those of us who never thought wed live to see the Bowery become home to an opulent hotel, its a bit of a shock. Also a bit of a shock is how lovely the lobby bar is, with its distinct drawing-room appeal. The dcor combines towering potted palms, taxidermy, plush Persian rugs and dark wood paneling with a gorgeous collection of velvet furniture. Interestingly, there isnt any music overheadan absence that pleasantly makes way for constant hushed conversation. Cocktails are expectedly pricey, and snacks are on hand from in-house Italian eatery Gemma.
