Walk into this NYU stalwart with its oddly low tin ceilings and you'll swear you've been transported straight to central casting. Manhattan's version of a definitive "college bar," it seems every patron in the joint is young (perhaps eschewing the 21 and over rule) and eager to have a little irresponsible, inconsequential fun. The beer is cheap to start, yet the selection is incredibly plentiful (we're talking hundreds) and the prices climb along with the origins of the brews (since when did college kids care about rare South American imports?). It gets packed on weekends with both kids and beer geeks, so don't sweat the personal space thing (and don't wear your good shoes).
