Description:
The atmosphere of Cuba is palpable at this festive, authentic and just plain fun eatery, with its xposed brick, rattan ceiling fans, terracotta floors and vibrant murals painted by Cuban native Carlos Mateu. At a table by the front window, watch the resident cigar maker hand-roll Cuban-style cigars that patrons can take home free of charge. The menu covers all the Cuban classics but adds innovative twists and turns, with highlights including Ropa Vieja (braised skirt steak in a spiced tomato-garlic sauce served with mashed sweet plantains), and Lechon Asado Con Mojo Campestre (chunks of roasted suckling pig with yuca and Paella.) If youre lucky, youll catch members of Yerba Buena (the Latin funk collective) jamming with the house band, as they are frequent visitors when not on tour.
