Albert Trummer is parlaying the pyrotechnic bar tricks that got him in trouble at his Chinatown cocktail lounge Apotheke into a whole new concept bar. Open now for private events, with extended hours coming soon, Theater Bar is exactly what it sounds like. The idea is to bring flair back behind the bar, and then some. Its a perfectly logical progression in this era of the celebrity mixologist: The bartenders are the actors; the drinks are even referred to as acts. Red velvet curtains, exposed brick and a bar elevated to look like a stage give it an old-timey cabaret feel. The drinks will have an artisanal approach, with fresh, often housemade ingredients, not unlike those at Apotheke.
