Travertine is a cozy restaurant popular with stylish diners looking for a little Italian. To set themselves apart, they've come up with a truly original idea: hide a bar in the basement. OK, we kid: There is nothing original about their basement spot, which boasts a hidden entrance on the street and a hard-to-get by bouncer. It is swank, though. The small room features sexy red furniture, an oriental carpet and wall etchings that tell a story of a Roman soldier in love. They won't serve food from the upstairs restaurant, but that doesn't matter. This a post-dinner party until the wee hours sort of place. Note to revelers: This is now the second "restaurant with a secret club in the basement" on this street. Check out the downstairs digs at neighboring Kenmare if you have trouble getting in here.
