Nostalgic types were really upset when they learned that the Edison Hotels bar would shutter after decades in business. Well, those folks stopped crying as soon as they learned that the owners behind Ward III would be taking over the Rum House, leaving much of the old-school charm intact. Gone is the shoddy mixology (think gin and tonics in large to-go cups); its been replaced with a top-notch cocktail program that features some of the drinks that youd find at the Tribeca outpost. The room got a spruce upthe gross carpeting has been replaced with classy tiles, and the wood paneling was torn out and replaced with swank ironwork. One thing that stayed put was the piano; expect live musical acts to accompany your libation of choice. Posh!
