Description:
Tucked away in the Helmsley Building, this sultry little Midtown lounge is a not-so-subtle nod to all things Middle Eastern: bright-glass lanterns, faux mummy cases, crimson walls, an ever-pervasive hooka scent and the occasional belly dancer or two. Expect a list of over 25 specialty martinis, as well DJs spinning tracks in an elevated booth late into the night. The fare, prepared by an alum of Jean-Georges and Daniel, is equally Middle Eastern-inspired and offerings include fruit-infused duck leg confit and lamb shish kebab tagine. Unlike most nightspots in the city, Lea does its business during the weeka lot of business apparently, as the lounge is closed on weekends. Not so surprising, considering its corporate location and arms-length proximity to Grand Central.
