It seems like a sports bar where you could take your girlfriend or your boss is how one friend of ours described The Parlour Midtown, an offshoot of the Upper West Side spot thats certainly not another typical, dimly lit Irish pub. Billed as New York Citys first Irish-style gastro-steakhouse, it features the usual Irish fare (fish and chips, shepherds pie), along with more daring bar snacks (crispy duck gizzards, smoked salmon boxty) and a high-end line of steaks, lamb and grilled tuna. The dcor is sleek and modern, with a loooong (20 seats!) black granite bar top anchoring the main room, gigantic exaggerated portraits of famous Irish folk (Bono!) adorning the walls, and a series of tables and booths scattered throughout two separate floors. If the beer prices run a bit high ($7 for Bud?), all those HDTVs scarttered throughout the bar should satiate the after-work and MSG-bound crowdsespecially if you count the two screens in the men's restroom.
