After significant delays and some pretty funny poking and probing from the blogs, Marcus Samuelsson has opened his comfort spot in Harlema neighborhood the celebrity chef has lived in for the past five years.The 100-seat Red Rooster does mine from the Southern classics the hood has become famous forfried chicken and shrimp-and-grits are the first two entrees listed. Mac-and-cheese gets a charred tomato side, while oxtail is served by the piece. Theres also red-velvet cupcakes on the dessert menu. Refreshingly, theres more to the story. Beef tartare and a lobster-and-corn-dog duo are creative starters. Theres fish tacos and a steak friteshardly southernand grilled snapper with bok choy and sour tomato juice. The chef also tips his hat to his former position at Aquavit: gravlax is listed as a house special. Clearly, this is Samuelssons house.
