Description:
Ken Fisherman's family has owned The Inn on 23rd, a bed-and-breakfast (in NYC!), for a little over ten years, and Fisherman has now turned the ground floor of the five-story townhouse into what he's calling a "modern American brasserie" serving food "done up in a rustic, party style." Rustic party foodpar-tay! That translates into sandwiches like triple pork (pork belly, black forest ham, porchetta) and "Duck-Duck-Goose" (grilled duck meat with goose-sausage gravy and a fried egg) as well as a trio of "One Pot" dishes: chicken and dumplings, duck soup, and seafood gumbo. They've also got an extensive collection of craft beers, borne mainly out of necessity: The restaurant can't do hard liquor because they're right next to a church. Guess you'll have to worship at the altar of IPA's. We can think of worse things.
