Technically speaking, eating at CRISP does not count as cheating on your usual falafel guy. The zany mini-chain with other locations in east and west Midtown and a penchant for earth- and health-conscious fast food makes a lunch that traditionalists would scoff at: Their menu includes falafel burgers like the chili cheese, which comes blanketed in vegetarian chili and American cheese. Then there are the pita sandwiches: a smattering of internationally inspired jobbies that globe hop from Mexico (cilantro pesto, avocado, corn, salsa, nachos, jalapeno dressing) to Africa (peanut sauce, sweet potatoes, corn salad, tomatos, habanero harissa sauce) with stops in Paris and Athens. Have some hazelnut dream mousse for dessert and...OK, this is definitely cheating on your usual falafel guy.
