Trailing only spoiled pooches, brow lifts and bistros in ubiquity, the trattoria is a far-from-endangered species on the Upper East Side. Which isn't to say there's not room for one more. This iteration places an emphasis on regional Italian fare, and the breadth of options is impressive. You won't feel confined by the menu choices, which allow for a mix-and-match approach to meal time: antipasti range from crostini to stuffed artichokes; there's a wide range of imported salumi and cheese; the pastas include an intriguing fettuccine with duck confit ragout; and moderately priced entrees include chicken, fish, seafood and beef options. The chef-owner Louis Cangiano comes from a long line of Italian goods purveyors, so you can expect an emphasis on authentic ingredients and fresh preparations.
