When you hear the words Irish tavern, good food doesn't immediately spring to mind. Irish chef Damien Brassel is trying to change all that at his East Village outpost. The space keeps the casual feel of a good old Irish barthink lots of dark wood, plenty of bar stools, and windows that look out onto the bustle of Avenue A. What you won't find here is the screaming drunks and low-quality service that some Irish spots are notorious for. Look for dishes like Shepherds Pie to accompany traditional Irish bar snacksyes, you'll become a Scotch egg fanatic once you knock back a few of those suckers. A large selection of beer is available to accompany the grub.
