True, the third outpost of this artisan coffee shop is neither on Ninth Street like its flagship nor Ninth Avenue like its popular west side location at the Chelsea market, but that doesnt make it any less authentic. In fact, the java served here is all about authenticity: using direct trade coffee sourced exclusively from Portand-based Stumptown Coffee Roasters, the baristas only brew espresso and French Press coffee to create just seven classic drinks (espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, mocha and house coffee), using one blend at a time. In other words, dont expect fancy flavored drinks (though prepare to be dazzled by the frothy latte art) or gimmicky settings. Even the minimalist, all-wood dcor has been stripped down to the bare essentialswraparound counter space, a few wooden chairsto keep the focus on the brew.
