The third Manhattan location of this growing international chain with roots in Amsterdam provides Upper West Siders a healthy fast-food alternative to the McDonalds next door. Like its downtown counterparts in Union Square and on Eighth Street, a simple menu offers falafel sandwiches available in combo-style meal deals, complete with thick-cut Belgian fries served in a paper cone and a drink (instead of grabbing a lukewarm can of soda from the fridge, opt for a ginger-infused iced tea). Expect the same cheery, mod lime-colored walls and stainless-steel salad bar boasting as much tabbouleh, pickled baby eggplant and marinated olives as you can stuff into your whole wheat or white pita. What you wont see here are the long lines snaking out the door, giving you ample elbow room to customize your falafel with green chili and tahini sauces or even snag a seat at one of the long, blonde-wood communal tables with benches.
