Hyper-specificity is all the rage these days; it seems that recently opened restaurants have been focusing primarily on doing one thing and one thing well, whether it's sandwiches, burgers, pizza or charcuterie. But new West Village spot Entwine is quite the opposite, offering a wide range of experiences in a variety of mini-locales: If you're looking to explore the extensive international wine list, head to the basement tasting room. For Turkish coffee service or to sip tea from leaves grown in co-owner Mali Simsek's family garden in Turkey, step through the French doors to the cozy back garden. Or you can grab a spot in the parlor and enjoy classic cocktails while eating Mediterranean mezzesmoked salmon and caviar-kissed. The recipes were mined from Simsek's travels throughout the Mediterranean, where he spoke with "many grandmothers" for generational recipes, that have now landed on the menu. He and co-owner Valeri Kvaratskhelia stress that they want guests to feel like "they're in the home of an art collector, where each room has its own feel. The upstairs is more fun, while the downstairs has a lounge-y vibe." So let the obsessives have their one-note wonders while you settle in among Entwine's many rooms and take the night wherever it leads.
