This American-style eatery has been serving up comfort food in its current Upper West Side location for over 20 years. The white picket fence outside clues you in to chef and owner Carrie Levins goal for the restaurant inside: to create a charming atmosphere with wholesome home cooking on the menu. And brunch is the GETEs main attraction. The side orders of biscuits and strawberry butter have the customers raving and main dishes include French toast topped with sliced peaches, apple pancakes with cinnamon sugar and sour cream, as well as omelets and egg dishes. The lunch and dinner menus stay in the comfort food zone too, with dishes like a turkey dinner with the Thanksgiving regulars: stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, or the New York strip steak paired with onion rings and a baked potato.
