Description:

For his fifth project in NYC (damn), Joseph Leonard bossman Gabriel Stulman has taken over the throwback Fedora space on West Fourth Street. The West Village institution had served as a supper club of sorts since the mid-1950sStulman was hand-picked by the previous owner to continue the operation, though only the name and famous neon sign remain as a concrete testament of the past. The cuisine, no longer red-sauce Italian, is French-Canadian, the vision of Mehdi Brunet-Benkritly from Montreal's famed Au Pied de Cochon. The menu, which shifts both daily and weekly, consists of appetizers ($10-$14) and entrees ($23-$28). "Calling our food a particular cuisine is really tricky," admits co-owner Gina Stulman, who says Brunet-Benkritly will likely be playing around with things in the restaurant's early days. Fedora will take reservations, but only for three tableseach seating up to eight. Those will be taken at 11 a.m. the day of. But the majority of the 42 seats17 at the barwill be reserved for walk-ins.
