Restaurateur John McDonald and chef Josh Capon (Lure Fishbar) have partnered to bring yet another burger joint to patty crazed NYC. Taking over the former Centonvini is a handsome space meant to evoke the long-lost (expect for Chicago) mid-century pubs that were as common as takeout sushi bars in time's past. Five diverse burgers range from the Classic (lettuce, tomatoes, sliced pickles, American cheese) and Puebla (roasted pablanos) to Capon's winning entry at the 2009 NYWFF Burger Bash (carmelized onion, bacon jam, American cheese). Entrees include roasted Cornish hen, short rib ravioli and an 18 oz ribeye. Meatballs, carpacio and one kickass charcuterie board line a list of nine sharable dishes. And what about the Barrel? American craft kegs like Sixpoint Bengali Tiger and Anchor Steam are served alongside four tap wines via the Red Hook Winery (starting at $5). Over 25 glasses are also available, ranging from $8 and up. 100 bottles range form Old World to more offbeat domestic selections.
