Description:
With so many swanky spots lining Madison Square Park these days, it's nice to see something that's affordable (and not Shake Shack). Greensquare has the word "tavern" in its name, but don't expect pints of beer served alongside pub grub. The focus here is on locally sourced cuisine, at prices that fall below the more expensive fine-dining haunts in the hood. A pan-seared duck breast is served with a peppercorn glaze and sauted kale, while a burger made with local cattle can be yours for $16. The menu is helpfully broken down into small, medium and large selections, so you can get just the right amount of food to fill you up. The beverage list shifts focus away from the Empire State in favor of a selection from around the globe. Wines range from Argentina to Sicily, so you can both support local merchants and explore the world at large during the same meal.
