Description:

Can a food court be sexy? Jeffrey Chodorow certainly thinks so: The prolific restaurateur has teamed-up with designer Syd Mead, best known for his work on the 1982 sci-fi classic "Blade Runner," to open this sleek 20,000-square-foot cafeteria on the main floor of the Eventi Hotel in Chelsea. The sci-fi allusions are apt: The high-tech eatery is outfitted with touch-screen kiosks that allow diners to key in their orders from four vendors, and then just pick them up at the various counters; they'll even text you when your order is ready. (If you'd rather go old-school, you can order directly over the counter.) The food itself is a hodge-podge of accessible, no-fuss biteseverything from dumplings (from Chinatown Brasserie's Joe Ng) to pastas and sandwiches. The "wow" dish here, though, is a designer burgers from a counter called 3B's, which are made with a proprietary LaFrieda blend (sirloin, chuck, hanger steak) and which could give Shake Shack a run for it. Delish. An outdoor courtyard, complete with a ginormous TV screen, opens later in the fall.
