Description:
Thanks to the banh mi explosion, you needn't look far when the craving for those crunchy sandwiches hits you. While it's not at ramen-level intensity yet, there seems to be a slow influx of quality pho spots popping up around town as well. But rare is the single restaurant where you can enjoy your sandwich while your friend slurps on noodle soup. This no-frills East Village Vietnamese cafe offers a full range of options, from five varieties of banh mi (including an intriguing red curry sunfish), clay pot rice dishes, and both pho and b'un soups. You won't mistake the understated decor for the newest downtown hotspot, and there are only a handful of small tables in the front of the shop, but for a take-out dinner or a post pub-crawl snack, you can't beat the wide selection and affordable prices.
