Description:
The spot that formerly housed downscale Mexican joint Cinco de Mayo is now home to this polished Thai restaurant from the team behind the West Side's Thai Basil. Certainly a step above your average UES takeout spot, Osha's small dining room sports a spiffy interior with chandeliers and marble-topped tables. Since Osha means "tastes good" in Thai, the bar is set pretty high for the lengthy menu: Specialties include the double-cooked pork belly, a grilled chicken with papaya and the extremely hot "spicy bamboo," with bell peppers, basil, your choice of protein and, naturally, bamboo. Prices for entrees are on the high end for a Thai spot ($14$18) but noodle dishes and a $7 lunch special keep things affordable.
