In the wake of shuttering the over-designed spaceship that was Kurveand its subsequent occupant, Rhong Tiamchef-owner Andy Yang has taken his inspired Thai concept to the Flatiron. The dcor at the old place was killing me, Yang says, referring to designer Karim Rashids ultra-modern digs at Kurve. It didnt suite the food. The new place has a better location with a simpler dcor. Usual Thai suspects remainspring rolls, satay, pad Thai, etc.but Yang now attempts what few besides David Chang have tried before: Asian burritos! Yangs roti wrap menu is stellar. The soft roti bread is homemade and encases a variety of savory dishes like Thai beef curry and coconut lemongrass chicken. Snacks like the Waygu beef sliders are also available, as is frozen yogurt. And in huh? news, Rhong Tiam boasts a juice and smoothie bar with a variety of health and energy supplements.
