Description:

"We want people to think of us as a taqueria first," co-owner Chema Herrasti says of his tiny East Village spot El Atazcon Taqueria, although the menu also offers a wide range of quesadillas, tortas and burritos. Taco varieties include a spicy grilled skirt steak, sauted shrimp, and a veggie mushroom and onion with creamy chipotle sauce all served on natural corn tortillas ($3-$3.50). Herrasti emphasizes that atazcon is a Spanish term for "full in a good wayno longer hungry, but not full to the point of discomfort." The nine taco and eight quesadillas varieties are priced to encourage mixing and matching, so it shouldnt be hard to find just the right formula for reaching your own state of atazcon. Plus the free glass of sangria with a three-taco order should help you reach a blissful state no matter what your hunger level.
