Description:
As one in the glut of glitzy, gigantic Japanese restaurants that opened a few years ago in Manhattan, the grand space and super-stylish atmosphere of this Philly-imported Meatpacking District Godzilla will probably be regarded with the same fondness reserved for tube televisions and male afros. Get past that and you'll enjoy some of the most exquisite sushi and Japanese cooking in town. For all his his enterprising, former Nobu samurai and Iron Chef star Masaharu Morimoto is a master -- order his omakase and enjoy. If you must meddle and choose yourself, try the toro tartare with osetra caviar, yellowtail pastrami, the kobe strip steak, and something called Duck Duck Duck (a combo of foie gras croissant, roast duck and soft duck egg with red miso suace).
