Description:
Now we've figured out what really got caught between the moon and New York City: a rabbit! (Ba-da-dum!) Or, at least this Greenwich Village gastropub from owner Rocco Ancarola (Pink Elephant) and chef Brian Bieler (The Mott). The menu features updated riffs on English comfort foods like bangers and mash, fish and chips, andya know itrabbit. On the booze side, the cocktails are mixed by bartenders Ancarola is calling "chefs du bar," the wines are eclectic and the beers artisanal. The space itself is modeled after London gastro-granddaddy The Eagle and comes handsomely wrapped in ivy, with an old-fashioned wooden staircase separating the parlor-like dining room upstairs from the loungier downstairs area, decorated with English bric-a-brac. As for that name: It's from an East Asian myth, which holds that if you can see the shape a rabbit in the moon, you're bonkers in love. Or, at least you might have had one too many cocktails from the chef du bar.
