As narrow and aesthetically pleasing as a graffiti-strewn Koch-era subway car, this divey Cuban restaurant remains as jam-packed today as it was then because, frankly, it's the only super-cheap good food left in glammed-up Times Square. It doesn't matter that it closes mid-afternoon or that it's now run by Dominicans (who kept the name and menu from the previous owners). What matters is that the signature Cuban sandwich, pork and pickles slathered with mayo, rocks; as do the daily specials, like chocolatey oxtails, octopus salad, tripe & pig's feet and chicharron de pollo. If you can't snag one of the counter spots or orange tables, get takeout or catered to your office.
