The Ruth Williams Dance Foundation, Inc.
The Ruth Williams Dance Foundation Incorporated is a community based nonprofit dance/creative arts organization that provides classes and performances in tap, ballet, jazz, modern, Hip-Hop and African based cultural dance. Our unique focus is to nurture the art of dance and its related disciplines. This opens greater opportunities for personal and professional development with an empasis on self-esteem, teamwork, discipline, creativity, and careers in dance and the arts.

The primary goals of the Foundation are:

To secure RWDF as one of the leading dance organizations in Harlem
To continue to serve youth and families through the art form of dance
The Foundation was created and founded in 1979 by a group of supporters seeking to augment and further develop the artistic work Ms. Ruth Williams began. In 1983, the organization incorporated and expanded its mission to sponsor, promote, direct, organize and produce performing arts programs, and provide scholarships to Harlem-area youth who demonstrate a strong interest in the performing arts.

The Ruth Williams Dance Studio
The Ruth Williams Dance Studio family is a project of the Ruth Williams Dance Foundation Inc. that has been located in Harlem for over 60 years. Starting with only 40 youngsters the Studio has steadily increased its enrollment of students ranging in age from 3 to adult. Over 40,000 students have passed through the RWDS doors and captivated audiences during the annual recitals.

The primary goals of RWDS are:

To maximize artistic potential
Boost self-esteem and instill respect for oneself and others
Help develop new lasting friendships and
Provide a safe environment to learn the art of dance
