Description:

In 1929, when Temple Emanu-El was completed, the rabbis and congregants stood together in awe of its beauty. More important, however, was the affirmation of the community that was started with the Temples founding in 1845. Not only was a beautiful sanctuary created, but the history of generations was sustained.

We at Temple Emanu-El strive to convey the richness of our traditions, not only through the beauty of our worship services but with a wide range of intellectually stimulating programs. The Ivan M. Stettenheim Library, Herbert & Eileen Bernard Museum and the Skirball Center for Adult Jewish Learning provide the resources for fulfilling our Jewish mission. The Nursery School and Religious School give our children a start in the quest for Jewish learning. Our many and varied volunteer endeavors give us the opportunity to help our neighbors in need. Worship, study, service are the hallmarks of our Emanu-El heritage.

We are individual families, but as we worship, study and volunteer together, we become the Emanu-El familya source of strength for all of us. As president, I look forward to sharing this with you. As our rabbis say, Temple Emanu-El is a house of prayer for all people, and all are welcome in this house of God. Your participation is the lifeblood of our beloved Emanu-El.
