The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is the world's largest stock exchange (by dollar volume). Since 1817, it has offered a method for buyers and sellers to trade shares of stock in publicly traded companies, though its origins can be traced back to 1792. In 1978, the building at 11 Wall Street was designated a National Historic Landmark.

NYSE Euronext, the holding company created by the combination of NYSE Group, Inc. and Euronext N.V., was launched on April 4, 2007. NYSE Euronext (NYSE/New York and Euronext/Paris: NYX) operates the world's largest and most liquid exchange group and offers the most diverse array of financial products and services.
